RYA Onboard - Sailing For Local Children

OnBoard is the RYA's children's sailing and windsurfing programme. It offers children the opportunity to try watersports through their local club or centre in a safe, fun and structured environment. These can be booked by members or non-members but after the first session children are required to join the Club as a junior member - more information below

Open to all children, OnBoard is a beginner programme that gets people on the water for their first time. There is no experience or equipment needed to get you started. The programme is also progressive, so you can work your way through the RYA Youth Schemes - for those who are interested, and meet required ability levels, then children could progress to taking part in club racing in club boats .

As well as getting fresh air and exercise, children's sailing offers a wide range of invaluable life skills, from problem solving to confidence and teamwork.

Fowey Gallants Sailing Club are keen to welcome all children resident in the local area to take part in these sailing sessions on Wednesday evenings in the season. Wednesday evening is club racing night. The clubhouse will be open from 6pm where parents can wait and watch their children's activity (or just relax over a coffee or a drink from the bar. Food is also available.

If children would be keen to keep sailing through the winter months (October, November and March) we will be very pleased to run sessions on a weekend half day. These would be very weather dependent.

For children who would be interested in taking part in club racing please let us know and we can discuss a plan to help them with that.

NOTE - TO BOOK THESE SESSIONS CHILDREN MUST BE EITHER A JUNIOR MEMBER IN THEIR OWN RIGHT (£18 EACH PER YEAR) OR PART OF A FAMILY MEMBERSHIP.. WHEN JOINING PLEASE PROVIDE A CONTACT EMAIL AS THIS WILL BE NEEDED TO LOGIN TO BOOKING PAGE. EMAIL CAN BE A PARENT OR GUARDIAN EMAIL ADDRESS IF THE JUNIORS DONT HAVE THEIR OWN. Time: 18:00 to 20:00 Wednesday
Pre-course requirements: No prior experience; age 7 upwards.
Price: £10 a session plus £18 a year junior club membership.
