FOWEY GALLANTS RYA TRAINING CENTRE

Our principal, chief instructor, senior instructors and all the team look forward to seeing all your faces, new and old, back at the club and out on the water.

Our calendar and online booking system is updated constantly so do check back to see what is planned. Sailing training

Fowey Gallants Sailing Club operate a training facility approved by the RYA offering junior sailing courses at all grades for children 7 years upwards and all grades of adult training. Please refer to the relevant section for youth and adult sailing training. You can register and pay for courses through the website. Prices are shown in the relevant sections within the training area of the website.

If you are new to sailing and would like a short taster experience in our Venture keelboat please email us with your enquiry as these are booked to suit demand and weather.

Powerboat PB2

We are able to offer RYA Powerboat courses. The calendar is set up with courses that can be booked. If you have specific dates in mind please email us and we will try and sort that out. We need two people to make a powerboat course viable unless an individual is happy to pay the cost to take the course 1:1. We are running a poll where people can register their interest in doing a course but are solo and we can then try and put people together.

Please register interest here if you are flexible on dates and can share with another student. We can run PB1 if required and also the RYA Safety Boat course. Again please contact us for more informations.

Shore Based Courses - current availablility

Currently Fowey Gallants Sailing Club is recognised by the RYA to provide first aid and marine SRC training. These courses will be run at various times through the year. Watch out for emails from the club or the calendar.

Shorebased Courses - future plans

FGSC intend in future to run a number of other RYA shore based courses from the clubs facilities as part of its RYA training centre.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING COURSES ARE NOT YET AVAILABLE AND THE CENTRE IS NOT APPROVED AT THIS TIME TO PROVIDE THEM.

Evening/weekend courses may include:-

Yachtmaster theory.

Any other course for which there is sufficient demand - if you email us to register interest in any of these so that we can measure demand.

Boat Hire

Our fleet of sailing dinghies is shown here. For those members who have completed RYA level two or RYA stage 2 certificates and can demonstrate their competence at launching and recovering dinghies from the dinghy park we are able to offer dinghies for hire - either for club racing or to allow you to practise and improve your sailing skills. Costs for this will be available on the fleet page. Note: if hiring a club boat you will need to demonstrate that you have safety boat cover of your own. Please note priority will be given to training course use at all times.

Prices

The prices for our training courses are discounted for club members. If you are a non-member, but take a powerboat or sailing course and subsequently join the club within a month of the completion date of your course we will waive the joining fee which would normally be £20. In order to take advantage of this please contact us in advance of completing membership application. This does not apply to half day sessions or discover sailing sessions.

Fowey Gallants Sailing Club Equality Policy

Fowey Gallants Sailing Club has adopted the spirit of the RYA Equality Policy which allows the training centre to exercise discretion in its management of training and awarding certificates for stages or levels of training to align with the limitations of individuals disabilities.
