RYA Adult Sailing Training
At Fowey Gallants Sailing Club we offer adult dinghy tuition for those aged 16 upward, for all abilities. Whether you haven't sailed before or have good sailing experience, we can offer a course to suit. Our professional team of Instructors are all RYA qualified and courses are taught through a variety of on water sessions, shoreside exercises, and can be varied depending on the group and weather conditions.
RYA Level 1 Start Sailing
Learn to sail. The RYA level 1 course is the perfect introduction to the sport of dinghy sailing. You will learn everything you need to know to go for a sail in light winds, how to get the boat ready, how to get on the water and sailing around and how to keep you and your crew safe. Teaching takes place on the water, on land and in the classroom depending on the group and weather conditions.
We offer this as a 2-day weekend course or a 5 session weekday course.
The National Sailing Scheme logbook is included in the course price as is the certificate however this is not guaranteed unless the course is successfully completed. Boat hire, wetsuits & buoyancy aid hire is also included.
Duration: two-day weekend course or 5 half days Monday to Friday.
Time: two day-09:30 to 16:30 with a break for lunch, half day- 10-1 or 2-5
Pre-course requirements: No prior experience or knowledge is required for level 1, minimum age of 16.

RYA Level 2 Basic Skills
We offer this as a 2-day weekend course or a 5 session weekday course.
The National Sailing Scheme logbook is included in the course price as is the certificate however this is not guaranteed unless the course is successfully completed. Boat hire, wetsuits & buoyancy aid hire is also included.
Duration: two-day weekend course or 5 half days Monday to Friday.

RYA Level 3 Better Sailing
Improve your sailing skills. The RYA level 3 course provides the skills and knowledge to become an independent sailor. The certificate allows members to hire dinghies at Fowey Gallants Sailing Club. You will enhance your skills and develop techniques with a range of tasters from the advanced modulesWe offer this as a 2-day weekend course or a 5 session weekday course..

Start Sailing Package
Our start sailing package is a great way to get into the sport of sailing, it is fantastic value too. It includes the RYA Level 1 & 2 courses, which are taken as two 2-day weekend courses (or we can potentially fix four days to suit you- please email to discuss this if it is of interest). Included in this package is four club boat hire sessions to practice your new skills and one years single membership (or couple membership if appropriate) at Fowey Gallants Sailing Club. (Note boat hire subject to availability and to be at a time an instructor is on site).
The National Sailing Scheme logbook is included in the course price as are the certificates however this is not guaranteed unless the course is successfully completed. Boat hire, wetsuits, spray tops & buoyancy aid hire is also included.
Pre-course requirements: No prior experience or knowledge is required, minimum age of 16.
Price: £390 One Adult member, £750 Two Adults members booking together.
Non-members - £430 One Adult non-member, £800 Two Adult non-members booking together. (Note full price for two non-member weekend courses, club membership and joining fee would be £548 each plus cost of boat hire so this is a very good value package)!
Our membership year is from January to December, the package must be used within this time. Membership at Fowey Gallants Sailing Club will be valid until the end of the December in the year of the first course.

Half Day Sailing Sessions
For those who have completed RYA Level 1 we will be holding half day sessions in the afternoons.
Please contact the club if you are interested in doing this and we can hopefully arrange dates to suit.
Duration: half days.Time: Monday to Friday from 14:00 to 17:00
Pre-course requirements: Completion of RYA Level 1, age 16 upwards.
Price: £50 members, £60 non-members.

Adult Improvers
After you have completed your course you will no doubt be keen to continue your sailing development by spending time on the water. Or you may have sailed in times gone by and are keen to get your sea legs back.
We hold relaxed, informal sessions for Club members aimed at getting you on the water with like minded people and build your confidence. Adult Improver sessions are supervised by one of our instructors.
The sessions are generally on Thursday - but can be any day to suit weather and by agreement of the group.

Duration: 2-hours each.
Time: Thursday 17:30-19:30 generally or by agreement with the group.
Pre-course requirements: Any skill or ability level, minimum age of 16.
Price: £20 members only including boat, wetsuit, & buoyancy aid hire.
