Powerboat Training

Our RYA-qualified powerboat instructors deliver high-quality training using a range of boats, including RIBs and tiller-steer displacement craft. These courses are suitable for anyone looking to learn essential powerboat skills, improve existing abilities, or act as a safety boat helm.

Powerboat Level 2

Learn how to drive a powerboat safely. This two-day entry-level course provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat. The course covers launching and recovery, boat handling, securing to a buoy, anchoring, leaving and coming alongside, man overboard recovery, slow speed close-quarters maneuvering, an introduction to driving at planning speed and collision regulations.

Duration: Two full days
Time: 10:00 to 17:00 with a break for lunch
Pre-course requirements: No prior experience is required, minimum age of 12.
Price: £300 non-members, £275 members (Minimum of two to run the course)

Safety Boat

This two day course is ideal for those supporting dinghy sailing fleets, windsurfers, training sessions, or racing activities. Participants will develop their powerboating skills and learn key rescue techniques, including advanced boat handling, dinghy and windsurfer rescue, towing, communication skills, and mark-laying.

A basic knowledge of sailing dinghies is required, and participants must already hold the Powerboat Level 2 certificate for at least one year before joining the course. To book these courses please contact us to arrange. We need a minimum of three to run this course.

Pre-course requirements: Powerboat Level 2 certificate, minimum age of 16.
