Want to gain confidence and skills driving powerboats? Our RYA qualified powerboat instructors deliver highquality training on a range of powerboats including RIBs and displacement craft ideal for leisure use, safety cover, or supporting club sailing activities.
All courses are run with emphasis on practical handling and safety, and are suitable for beginners through to those wishing to develop advanced handling and rescue skills.
Powerboat Level 2 Course
This practical two day, entry level course gives you the skills and knowledge to drive a powerboat safely. You'll spend most of your time afloat, learning core techniques that give you confidence in real conditions.
What you'll cover:
- Launching and recovery
- Boat handling and manoeuvring
- Securing to a buoy and anchoring
- Leaving and coming alongside
- Man overboard recovery
- Introduction to driving at planning speed
- Collision regulations and safety procedures
Duration: 2 full days (10:0017:00 with a break for lunch)
Precourse requirements: None (minimum age 12)
Price: £275 members / £300 non members (minimum of two to run)

Safety Boat Course
This twoday course is perfect for anyone supporting sailing fleets, windsurfers, or training/racing activities on the water. It builds on the skills from Powerboat Level 2 and focuses on rescue and safety boat handling.
What you'll develop:
- Advanced boat handling
- Dinghy and windsurfer rescue techniques
- Towing skills
- Communication and marklaying skills
Precourse requirements: RYA Powerboat Level 2
Minimum age: 16
Duration: 2 full days (10:0017:00 with a break for lunch)
Price: £275 members / £300 non members
