Chief Instructor - Jasmin Spencer

Jaz started to learn how to sail here at Fowey Gallants Sailing Club when she was six years old. She continued to sail on the evening RYA On Board sessions and started racing on club nights. At sixteen she became a dinghy instructor and has since completed her senior and powerboat instructor. Jaz is as happy sailing in a tiny Optimist or being onboard Helen Mary R, a 57ft sail training boat (Morvargh sailing project) based in Fowey. In her spare time, she loves to be in the outdoors, walking and swimming at the beach or road tripping in her van.

Senior Instructor and race coach - April Halls
![]()
April learnt how to sail at Gallants and has been teaching here for a long old time too. She is a qualified senior instructor and level 2 race coach with experience racing toppers, fevas and faster double handed dinghies. Ironically, yachting makes her seasick so you'll most likely find her teaching from one of those little orange safety boats. Just look for the ball of frizzy hair!
