Chief Instructor - Jasmin Spencer

Jaz started to learn how to sail here at Fowey Gallants Sailing Club when she was six years old. She continued to sail on the evening RYA On Board sessions and started racing on club nights. At sixteen she became a dinghy instructor and has since completed her senior and powerboat instructor. Jaz is as happy sailing in a tiny Optimist or being onboard Helen Mary R, a 57ft sail training boat (Morvargh sailing project) based in Fowey. In her spare time, she loves to be in the outdoors, walking and swimming at the beach or road tripping in her van.

Senior Instructor - Simon McEvoy

Simon has been an instructor for 25+ years and is qualified for Dinghy, Multi Hull, & Keel boat. He also has his Power Boat Instructor and Yacht Master Offshore. He has sailed his Wayfarer to the Netherlands and the Channel Islands, most of the East Coast of England. And has taught at Nottinghamshire County SC, Rutland SC, National Water sports centre Holme Pierpont and at Grafham Water Centre, experience with Bermudan, Gunter, Gaff and Lateen Rigs.

Senior Instructor and race coach - April Halls

April learnt how to sail at Gallants and has been teaching here for a long old time too. She is a qualified senior instructor and level 2 race coach with experience racing toppers, fevas and faster double handed dinghies. Ironically, yachting makes her seasick so you'll most likely find her teaching from one of those little orange safety boats. Just look for the ball of frizzy hair!

Senior Powerboat Instructor - Colin Savage

From dinghies to coastal and offshore sailing Colin fully qualified as a RYA offshore yacht master in 1990. Teaching RYA yacht courses, powerboat PB2 and safety boat as well as boat deliveries and working with the navy have been a huge part of his life for many years. This has allowed him to see some of the wonders of the world and the sea. This experience has been most rewarding seeing new places meeting some lovely people and mostly sharing this sailing experience and helping others learn to also enjoy the sea as much as he has.
